Schools & Education

Education is important to the people of the Tri-State area. In Lawrence County, Ohio, the Fairland Schools and Dawson Bryant Schools are among area favorites.

Cabell and Wayne Counties have 30 elementary schools, 11 middle schools, and 7 senior high schools with a total enrollment of 13,427. With 1,200 teachers, the student/teacher ratio is 11 to 1. Each area has its own board of education. There are five parochial schools.

In Cabell County three new high schools have been completed -- Cabell Midland, Huntington, and Spring Valley.

To register for school in all three states, parents or legal guardians must bring the child's immunization record, birth certificate and a copy of a legal custody order if applicable, to the school their chilld will attend.

Marshall University

Old Main

Huntington is the home of the main campus of Marshall University, and Marshall University Community College.

   

Library

Student Center

The University merged with West Virginia Graduate College in South Charleston in 1997, creating the new Marshall University Graduate College.
     
The University has a total enrollment over 16,000. Over 12,000 are on the Huntington campus.

Ashland is the home of Ashland Community College which has an enrollment of 2,217, and an extension of the University of Kentucky.

Huntington Junior College of Business is located in downtown Huntington and has an enrollment of approximately 612 students. Huntington School of Beauty Culture is located in the East Hill's Mall.

Lawrence County, Ohio is the home of Ohio University - Ironton Campus, the Ohio University Southern Campus Center for Development, and Tri-State Bible College.
